Abstracts

SIU 2015 abstracts are available online at http://www.siu-urology.org/congress-2015/abstracts. This link is intended for congress participants only and must be accessed with a password found in the printed final programme booklet. These abstracts are indexed as a supplement of the World Journal of Urology, official journal of the SIU.

ATMs and Banking

ATMs are located adjacent to the Convention Centre entry and on the Exhibition Centre concourse.

Attendance at SIU Sessions

Badges will be scanned at the entrance to each room. Only SIU delegates with a valid badge will be allowed access to scientific sessions. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. To ensure that you secure a spot, please arrive at the room well in advance of the session. Please note that due to various safety and fire regulations delegates will not be permitted to stand in session room aisles.

Badges

For security purposes, delegates, accompanying persons and exhibitors must wear their name badges to all social events, scientific sessions, and the exhibit hall. Badges are included in your registration package.

Best Posters

ePosters selected by session moderators as the Best Poster of the session will be announced via SIU’s official social media pages (Facebook and Twitter) and flagged on SIU’s eLearning portal, SIU Academy.

Business Centre and SIU UTech Bar

Public photocopy and fax services are available at the MEC Café in the Exhibition Centre. Photocopying services are available from the MCC Customer Service Desk.

Stop by and visit this main focal point in the exhibit hall! uTech Bar staff will be available to show the many ways you can stay connected to the SIU—or just stop by to take a break and recharge your mobile device. Certificate of Attendance

Personalized certificates of attendance can be printed on demand in the registration area of the MCEC.

CME Accreditation

The 35th Congress of Société Internationale d’Urologie held in Melbourne, Australia, 15–18 October, 2015, was granted 17 European CME credits (ECMEC) by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME). This congress is also accredited by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS). RACS has granted SIU 2015 21 credits for RACS Fellows. For full accreditation statements, please click here.

Coat and Luggage Check

A cloakroom and luggage storage facility is located off the main Convention Centre foyer, providing storage for visitors’ and delegates’ belongings.

Melbourne Airport (MEL), also known as Tullamarine Airport, is the primary airport serving the city of Melbourne, and the second busiest airport in Australia.

The Skybus Super Shuttle service is the main public transport link to the airport, taking approximately 20 minutes to reach Southern Cross Station in the Melbourne central business district.

Taxis are available at the airport 24 hours a day.  Journeys are metered and the fare to the city centre is about $60.

When sessions are done and you are headed out to explore Melbourne, or retire to your hotel, taxis can be found in front of the Hilton hotel, located outside the main entrance to the MCEC

Tram service in Melbourne is free of charge within certain travel zones (CBD and Docklands). For more information, please visit http://ptv.vic.gov.au/1-january-2015-fare-changes/ Trams are accessible via Spencer, Clarendon and Flinders Streets.

ePosters Viewing

During the congress, moderated and unmoderated ePosters will be available on touch-screen stations on the ePoster wall in the level 2 foyer. Thanks to the unique auto-zoom feature that the MULTIEPOSTER application offers, participants will be able to easily read all ePoster content (text, graphs, images, references, etc.) by zooming into defined poster sections/areas in the authors intended sequence. Each ePoster is equipped with a unique QR code which provides a direct link to the online version of the ePoster.

Expected Educational Outcomes of SIU 2015

At the end of this Congress, participants should be able to:

  • Understand recent and emerging strategies for managing urologic conditions
  • Discuss new surgical and treatment options for many different urologic conditions
  • Understand the current controversies in evaluation and treatment of urologic diseases
  • Review and apply the different guidelines that are discussed at the meeting during the presentations

Regular coffee breaks will be served in the Exhibit Hall (Melbourne Room 1) in the morning and afternoon. Lunch is available in the Exhibit Hall on Friday and Saturday.

Insurance

The organizers do not accept responsibility for any lost items or personal damage. Participants are strongly advised to make their own personal insurance arrangements, whether it be for health, travel or otherwise.

Language

All presentations at SIU 2015 will be given in English, the official language of the SIU. Translation to other languages is not available.

Media Policy

The SIU 2015 embargo policy applies to all abstracts that have been accepted for the 35th Congress of the Société Internationale d'Urologie.

Abstracts presented at the meeting, and indexed in the World Journal of Urology, the official journal of the Société Internationale d'Urologie, are embargoed until October 15, 2015. Abstracts should not have been published as manuscripts elsewhere.

Embargoed material is restricted to any and all public fora, including Internet, print, television and radio until the official start of the congress. 

The SIU provides complimentary registration to certified journalists. Journalists must complete the registration form, as well as submit a valid photo ID and press credentials. For additional information, please contact our registration department at [email protected]

Official press representatives are permitted to attend all scientific sessions, which include plenary, podium and poster sessions, as well as industry-sponsored symposia. Instructional courses are excluded. Press officials are also permitted to enter the exhibit hall. All ticketed courses and social activities must be paid by the journalist.

Interviews, videotaping, pictures and voice recording are strictly prohibited in the exhibit hall. Any person(s) in violation of this regulation will be banned from the congress, and if deemed appropriate, barred from future SIU congresses.

Mobile Devices

In consideration for presenters and fellow attendees, sound and any other disruptive feature of mobile devices must be switched off during all sessions.

The MCEC Prayer Room will be open during congress operating hours.

What to do in Melbourne

Shops in Melbourne are generally open from 0900-1700 (occasionally from 1000-1800), with extended hours (2100) on Fridays and reduced hours on the weekend (1000-1600).
