Abstracts

SIU 2016 abstracts are available online at http://www.siu-urology.org/abstracts_2016. This link is intended for congress participants only and must be accessed with a password found in the printed final programme booklet. These abstracts are indexed as a supplement of the World Journal of Urology, official journal of the SIU.

ATMs and Banking

ATMs are available in the Hilton Buenos Aires. Please note that there are often heavy fees for withdrawing cash from an ATM.

Attendance at SIU Sessions

Badges will be scanned at the entrance to each room. Only SIU delegates with a valid badge will be allowed access to scientific sessions. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. To ensure that you secure a spot, please arrive at the room well in advance of the session. Please note that due to various safety and fire regulations delegates will not be permitted to stand in session room aisles..

Badges

For security purposes, delegates, accompanying persons and exhibitors must wear their name badges to all social events, scientific sessions, and the exhibit hall. Badges are included in your registration package.

Best Abstracts

Based on the recommendations of the SIU’s expert reviewers and selection by the SIU 2016 Scientific Programme Committee, six “best abstracts” will be highlighted every day during Podium presentations from 1110-1120, during the main plenary sessions.

Business Centre 

Public photocopy and fax services as well as a business centre are available on the 5th floor of the Hilton Buenos Aires.

Certificate of Attendance

Personalized certificates of attendance can be printed on demand in the registration area of the Hilton Buenos Aires.

CME Accreditation

The 36th Congress of Société Internationale d’Urologie is accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME) to provide the following CME activity for medical specialists. The EACCME is an institution of the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS), www.uems.net.

The 36th Congress of Société Internationale d’Urologie is designated for a maximum of 23 hours of European external CME credits. Each medical specialist should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.

Buenos Aires is served by the Ezeiza International Airport (EZE), (officially known as Ministro Pistarini International Airport). The airport is the busiest airport in Argentina and is located 32 miles from the offical congress venue. 

Taxis are easy to locate in Buenos Aires. “Radio Taxis” (often black and yellow) are registered through a company and the safest option for travel.  Make sure to have small bills to pay your fare as it can be difficult to get change for larger bills. In terms of tipping, you can round up to the next peso for taxi drivers.

ePosters Viewing

During the congress, all ePosters will be available on touch-screen stations on the ePoster wall in the Hilton Meetings Foyer. Thanks to the unique auto-zoom feature that the MULTIEPOSTER application offers, participants will be able to easily navigating through the ePosters by zooming into defined sections/areas in the authors intended sequence. Each ePoster is equipped with a unique QR code which provides a direct link to the online version of the ePoster. Delegates will have the opportunity to download the free SIU Academy app and access all ePosters from the congress via their mobile device.

After the congress, ePosters will be available for viewing via SIU Academy and include additional features such as the ability to download the original poster file (when permitted by the author), ask questions to the poster author and even comment.

Expected Educational Outcomes of SIU 2016

At the end of this Congress, participants should be able to:

  • Understand the principles of recent strategies for managing urologic conditions
  • Be familiar with the latest clinical data on medical and surgical therapeutic options for many
  • different urologic conditions
  • Review the advantages and limitations of emerging therapies
  • Understand the current controversies in evaluation and treatment of urologic diseases
  • Review the different guidelines that are discussed at the meeting during the presentations
  • Apply knowledge gained in this congress to develop an evidence‐based practice in the management of urological patients

Food & Beverage

Regular coffee breaks will be served in the Exhibit Hall (Pacifico A) in the morning. Lunch is available in the Exhibit Hall on Friday and Saturday. Wine socials are scheduled in the afternoon on Friday and Saturday.

The Hilton Buenos Aires offers three dining options: El Faro Restaurant, Mosto Wine Bar and the Panadero Take Away.

There are also several other dining options nearby in the Puerto Madero neighborhood where the Congress venue is located.

Insurance

The organizers do not accept responsibility for any lost items or personal damage. Participants are strongly advised to make their own personal insurance arrangements, whether it be for health, travel or otherwise.

Language

All presentations at SIU 2016 will be given in English, the official language of the SIU (unless otherwise indicated). Translation to Spanish will be available for selected sessions, where indicated by the icon below.

Lost and Found

Lost and found services are available at the Congress Services Counter in the registration area. At the end of the day, any found items will be turned into the front desk at the Hilton Hotel.

Media Policy

The SIU 2016 embargo policy applies to all abstracts that have been accepted for the 35th Congress of the Société Internationale d'Urologie.

Abstracts presented at the meeting, and indexed in the World Journal of Urology, the official journal of the Société Internationale d'Urologie, are embargoed until October 20, 2016. Abstracts should not have been published as manuscripts elsewhere.

Embargoed material is restricted to any and all public fora, including Internet, print, television and radio until the official start of the congress, other than through SIU’s official journal. 

The SIU provides complimentary registration to certified journalists. Journalists must complete the registration form, as well as submit a valid photo ID and press credentials. For additional information, please contact our registration department at [email protected]

Official press representatives are permitted to attend all scientific sessions, which include plenary, podium and poster sessions, as well as industry-sponsored symposia. Instructional courses are excluded. Press officials are also permitted to enter the exhibit hall. All ticketed courses and social activities must be paid by the journalist.

Interviews, videotaping, pictures and voice recording are strictly prohibited in the exhibit hall. Any person(s) in violation of this regulation will be banned from the congress, and if deemed appropriate, barred from future SIU congresses.

Mobile Devices

In consideration for presenters and fellow attendees, sound and any other disruptive features of mobile devices must be switched off during all sessions.

Prayer Room

A prayer room is located in the Cipres room and will be open during congress operating hours.

SIU@U is SIU’s official congress platform which allows you to catch up on sessions you may have missed during the congress or revisit the ones you enjoyed most. Scientific sessions that are streamed and watched live are eligible for CME credits. All sessions can be viewed on-demand at SIU@U until December 31, 2016. What to do in Buenos Aires

Most stores in Buenos Aires are open from 0900-2000 during weekdays, with extended hours (until 2400) on Saturdays. Many shops are closed, or have limited hours, on Sundays.

Buenos Aires is known for its diverse and exciting neighborhoods and districts that cater to a variety of interests including shopping, cultural activities (museums, galleries, tango lessons), dining or simple sightseeing.
