National Delegates
In each country, SIU members form a National Section which meets preferably once a year, or at least once every two years. Matters considered of such importance as to be presented to the Society are referred to the General Secretary.
Each National Section elects a National Committee consisting of a Delegate, a Deputy Delegate and other members who must be in good standing to take office. Appointments are made by a majority of votes and for a three-year period. Elected National Delegates and Deputy Delegates automatically become members of the Committee of National Delegates for the next Congress.
The role of the National Delegate is a crucial one, as he/she is considered a direct communication link to the parent body as represented by the General Secretary, and gives a voice to the concerns and interests of his/her National Section.
