WS-01: Workshop: Basics on Ultrasonography (USG) in Urology

Programme Description:
This course will be structured in 3 parts:
- Lectures from the selected faculty will be shared to registered participants as a pre-workshop activity.
- Practical demonstration of key procedure points presented sequentially.
- Hands-on training for participants (up to 5 per USG machine) during active interaction with selected faculty.
Practical Demonstration and Hands-On Training (120 minutes)
Procedures and Techniques:
- Each USG machine will be dedicated to one procedure/technique.
- Procedures will include:
- Upper renal tract
- Lower urinary tract
- Transrectal USG (optional)
- Doppler
Learning Objectives:
At the end of the workshop, the participants should be able to:
- Operate an USG machine.
- Recall the basics of USG imaging for: hydronephrosis, dilated ureters, stones, cysts, renal masses, bladder examination, PVR, bladder volume, wall thickness, masses and stones, prostate evaluation, benign enlargement.
- Recognize the technique for conducting a transrectal USG for diagnosing benign enlargement of prostate, hypoechoic nodules, prostatic calculi, prostatic cysts, prostatic abscess, dilated SV/ejaculatory duct.
- Detail how to make a clinically acceptable USG report.
- Recognize the technique for performing a transrectal prostate biopsy under USG guidance.
- Recall the basics of USG Doppler.
